Sires & Dams

Bred for correct type, historic large size, intelligence, temperament, health and genetic soundness, the internationally known Tibetan Mastiffs of DRAKYI are noted pioneers of breed and obedience records, and through decades and generations of involvement are continuing to add noteworthy wins as evidenced by their Best in Show's, Group placements, new Champions of Record, National and Regional Specialty winners, and Obedience Title holders both in the U.S. and abroad.

We take pride in providing assistance and education to all TM owners to help insure that each and every one of our dogs reach their full potential with their families in a happy home. We credit our continuing success to a sound health and genetic-based breeding program that incorporates generation after generation of the very best quality Tibetan Mastiffs found throughout the world today. DRAKYI Tibetan Mastiffs are provided correct nutrition and proper socialization in a healthy family atmosphere. All of our breedings are carefully planned with emphasis on pedigree depth, physical compensation, soundness of temperament and structure, and the elimination of any hereditary/genetic defects. As foundational breeders, we are pleased to offer top quality dogs descended from the widest variety of proven bloodlines, year after year.

Here then are some of the sires and dams, past and present, that represent DRAKYI Tibetan Mastiffs.

Stud Dogs Featured in the DRAKYI Breeding Program

ATMA/ARBA/FIC Ch. Formosa-Drakyi Simba

ATMA Ch. DRAKYI Rebel-lion x Denali's Tsunami
Jan. 18, 1993. OFA GOOD. 30", 165 lbs. Gold.

SIMBA, a seventh generation DRAKYI line-bred dog, has become the focus and foundation of our breeding program, and others around the world. A double grandson of the breed great "Maynard," harkening back to the fabled giant Tsang Khyi variety, Simba and his get are setting new standards for size, bone, head type, and temperament.   He was ATMA's National Specialty Stud Dog winner for 1995 and 1996. Simba represents the ideal Tibetan Mastiff as the cover dog for the breed book, The Tibetan Mastiff, Legendary Guardian of the Himalayas, by Rohrer and Flamholtz, and is featured on the breed DVD, "The Magnificent Tibetan Mastiff."

Thee top-winning Best of Breed/Best in Show winner of his day, Dreamer's outstanding type, his classic head and commanding presence in the ring distinguished him in the winner's circle and made him the 1996 ATMA, ARBA, and SKC top winning dog in the breed, the 1997 ATMA National Specialty Best of Breed, and 1997 ATMA Dog of the Year.  Co-bred by Drakyi associate Ronny Hsieh, Dreamer's most profound influences can be traced back through daughters Tabu and Siren (Dreamer x Drakyi Kiranjin).

IABKC/SKC/INT Ch. Sierras' Majestic Mufasa, "JESSE"

"Jesse" was a most welcomed addition to the DRAKYI breeding program. Owned by DRAKYI associates Scott Monteiro and Ward Rowe, he produced his best puppies out of Simba daughters and grandaughters. Jesse's outstanding breed type, bone, head and plush coat are consistently seen and preserved in his progeny, and will be for generations to come.

A combination of the  finest American and Tibetan lines, his outstanding type and temperament are stamped on his offspring, and typify the qualities found in DRAKYI pedigrees around the world.

Drakyi Dark Dragon

Sno-Lyon Ghengis x Drakyi Ebony Noire
10-29-2002. OFA GOOD/Hips Normal. 32", 160 lbs. Black

Dragon has the classic, correct guardian temperament that is detailed in history and legends.  He is the first to greet me when  I return home, and the first to insist, "Stay off the property until the master returns."  "That has got to be the largest dog I have ever seen," is a description always given to Dragon by visitors, enhanced by his regal, discerning and accepting demeanor.  His exceptional size and type are seen in all his litters, in a variety  of colors (black, black/tan, blue/tan, red, cream).  In all my years, Dragon is the largest Tibetan Mastiff I have ever seen, with the structure and soundness of a dog half his size.

IABKC/SKC/INT Ch. Sierras' Majestic Mufasa x  Drakyi Baba Yaga
1-27-2004.

DRU is a spectacular young male, the perfect combination of his giant Drakyi sire and his Tibetan import dam. His bone density, substance and structure are unsurpassed, combined with a correctly textured and darkly pigmented coat.   Add to that his large, imposing head, correct type and  classic Asian expression, all traits he is producing consistently in the litters he is siring.  Dru is the sire to our new exhibition dog, PRINCE.

ATMA/SKC Ch. Sierras' Mojahedin Maynard
x ATMA Ch. MCA's Anjuli Bai DRAKYI

Drakyi Ebony Noire

Ch. Drakyi Darth Vader Minbari x Drakyi Ginger Snap 10-21-2000. OFA GOOD/HIPS NORMAL 27.5"  120 lbs. Black.

A truly outstanding TM comes in any of the many breed colors.  In recent years, Ebony is that TM that put black back on the map.  Distinguished by her size, type and outstanding record in the whelping box, Ebony's sons and daughters... Dragon, Black Princess, Titus, Golden Lady, Midas and others... are noted for their outstanding quality and accomplishments in the show ring and by founding breeding programs.  Grandsired by both   Simba and Jesse, Ebony embodies the marriage of her American and Tibetan heritage.
